Service Description:

Snow Clearing
- the Town of Oakville clears 2,000 lane km of roads and 1,100 km of sidewalks each winter using plows, sand, and salt
- check the Road Priority Map for primary, secondary, and residential routes
- track snow clearing progress with the Plow Oakville Tracker
- updates are posted during snow events
Plowing
- roads are cleared based on priority:
- Primary roads (major routes)
- Secondary roads (including transit routes)
- Residential roads
- Transit stops and driveway windrows
- residential streets may have some snow pack after plowing
- report any damage or blocked fire hydrants to the Town
Sidewalks
- sidewalks are cleared by the Town but will not be bare pavement
- clearing is prioritized by location and usage, with school routes first
- report unsafe conditions or damage caused by plows
How Residents Can Help
- shovel out fire hydrants and drainage catch basins near your property
- remove snow left at the end of your driveway after plowing
- park vehicles off the street during snow events
- follow winter parking rules: no street parking 2 am–6 am, Nov 15–Apr 15
- use salt responsibly to protect the environment
