Service Description: Program is a volunteer initiative that supports community safety by assisting police officers with crime prevention activities, searches and public events throughout Halton Region
  • supports sworn officers on local crime prevention initiatives and patrols
  • participates in ground searches for lost or missing persons
  • volunteers at large-scale community events throughout the year
  • contributes to community well-being as part of a trained group of civilian volunteers established in 1989

Project Safeguard
  • Auxiliary Policing Services Unit provides Halton residents with free, year-round home security inspections to identify risks and recommend practical safety improvements
  • assesses exterior areas of the home for potential security vulnerabilities
  • provides a one-hour inspection conducted by an HRPS Auxiliary member
  • offers a written report with personalized recommendations to improve home security
  • available only to residents of Halton Region

Eligibility / Target Population:


  • canadian citizen or permanent resident

  • of good moral character and habits

  • able to meet training and testing requirements

  • holds an ontario high school diploma or equivalent

  • medically and physically fit for duty

  • holds a valid g-class ontario driver’s licence with no more than six demerit points

  • able to follow all HRPS rules and complete required physical testing (PREP tests)
