Service Description:
|
Program is a volunteer initiative that supports community safety by assisting police officers with crime prevention activities, searches and public events throughout Halton Region
- supports sworn officers on local crime prevention initiatives and patrols
- participates in ground searches for lost or missing persons
- volunteers at large-scale community events throughout the year
- contributes to community well-being as part of a trained group of civilian volunteers established in 1989
Project Safeguard
- Auxiliary Policing Services Unit provides Halton residents with free, year-round home security inspections to identify risks and recommend practical safety improvements
- assesses exterior areas of the home for potential security vulnerabilities
- provides a one-hour inspection conducted by an HRPS Auxiliary member
- offers a written report with personalized recommendations to improve home security
- available only to residents of Halton Region

Eligibility / Target Population:
|
- canadian citizen or permanent resident
- of good moral character and habits
- able to meet training and testing requirements
- holds an ontario high school diploma or equivalent
- medically and physically fit for duty
- holds a valid g-class ontario driver’s licence with no more than six demerit points
- able to follow all HRPS rules and complete required physical testing (PREP tests)
